The Oromian Centre Hope Foundation of Alberta (OCHFA) story begins in Africa, specifically in the Oromo region of Oromia, Ethiopia. The region, the ancestral homeland of the Oromo people, holds a rich cultural heritage and a deep connection to the land. Inspired by the experiences and resilience of the Oromo people, OCHFA aims to create positive change and support immigrant communities in Alberta. The organization embraces principles like equity, cultural preservation, self-confidence, and sustainability.
What We Do
OCHFA is dedicated to empowering Black Canadian newcomers and immigrants confidentially. Our vision is to build a sustainable community through education, resettlement, mentorship, and advocacy, fostering positive and lasting change.
At OCHFA, we inspire and equip our community members with lifelong skills, embracing diverse cultures and fostering social integration. Our philosophy centers around breaking barriers and supporting new families in navigating their new environment.
Our primary focus is on immigrant populations and newcomers to Canada, particularly those from Africa and the Middle East. We recognize the challenges they face, and our services cater to their unique needs.
